2021 蛙納斯的誕生 The Birth of Frognus

在人類的生活中，不論是食物、產品、醫學、衣著都會經歷動物實驗的階段。
而蛙納斯是一種專門為了動物實驗，用基因工程培育出的實驗動物，牠的存在是為了人類進行各種實驗所使用，終其一生都活在實驗室裡。以物種基因延續來看，蛙納斯是永生的，這個品種會在實驗室裡面被確保出生和繁殖，永遠的傳承下去。但以自由意志來看，蛙納斯是滅亡的，牠不會經歷自己選擇的伴侶、照護自己的孩子、吃的食物也是由人類配給的，過度繁殖後畸形的個體被做成標本，死亡後的身體被做為解剖使用。
蛙納斯這個系列紀錄了牠們在實驗室裡與人類情感相同的時刻，經由蛙納斯的樣態，重現觀者自身身體的內在經驗。

In human life, nearly everything—from food and products to medicine and clothing—passes through a stage of animal testing.

Frognus is a fictional laboratory creature, genetically engineered specifically for experimental purposes. Its entire existence is confined to the lab, designed solely to serve human experimentation.

From the perspective of genetic continuity, Frognas is immortal. Its species is carefully maintained in laboratories, with controlled breeding ensuring it is born and reproduced endlessly. But in terms of free will, Frognus is extinct. It never chooses a mate, never raises its own offspring, and even the food it eats is rationed by humans. Deformed individuals from overbreeding are turned into specimens; once dead, their bodies are used for dissection.

This series documents moments when Frognus experiences emotions similar to those of humans—within the sterile walls of the laboratory. Through the form of Frognus, I aim to reflect the viewer’s own internal bodily experiences.
